Music for a Paramahamsa

For many centuries the Indian world has fascinated and enchanted Western artists, and thus appears in literature, painting, music and cinema. It is because of this that the great geographical and cultural distance which separates us from that far-off land has become remarkably shorter, so much so that the music derived from those cultures seems almost familiar to us and its exotic sounds go on enchanting listeners. It is through his compositions that Ganesh Del Vescovo has become a link between these different cultures. He does this by bringing to the guitar the language and sounds which belong to India and its peoples. In this Dvd, in addition to these enchanting exotic moods, we are also given the opportunity to see the artist perform on the instruments that produce these tone qualities and colours. The interest in this Dvd is therefore twofold: on the one hand there are refined compositions which tastefully explore the new expressive possibilities of the guitar and on the other, the juxtaposition of instruments that seem so far from one another. It is impossible not to advise buying this Dvd: a real jewel to be kept in one’s video library, both for lovely moments of listening pleasure and as a source for expressive inspiration.
